Christmas Decorations 2009 in Klang Valley

Christmas is just around the corner and i am so excited awaiting for the christmas day and went to most of the malls in KL for the x'mas deco. Specially thx to Chee Leong for drive me thru so many places from KL-PJ for my photo shooting and also Edward Liew for this special christmas post. Hope u guys enjoy this post and our efforts. Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas in advance to everyone...

Pavilion KL

The xmas deco at Pavilion Shopping Center is the most lavish of them all, it is well decorated at the insides and outsides of the mall, bringing out the best in xmas spirit and cheers! At the outside one can see that it focuses more on a white xmas, there are brightly litted structures resembling xmas trees , reindeers, and sleighs dotted along the walkways outside. At the inside the xmas deco gives a warm fuzzy feeling, well decorated xmas trees are abundant at the LG center court, it is also carpeted in red, the main colour of a santa’s costume! The LG center court also features a grand stage to host xmas events and a couple of tastefully decorated booths offering shoppers special deals on selected consumer products.

Midvalley Megamall

At first glance, the xmas deco at midvalley megamall is one that is meticulously planned backed with a huge budget. Its theme is a mix of medieval castle ruins and tall pine tree forest, covered with colourful yet not overblinding christmas ornamental lights. The overhead levitating white candles present a slightly sombre mood, signifying our quiet gratitude and hope for wide reaching and everlasting peace.

A stage is set in the center of the decorations to host events such as meet the santa, carol singing and photoshoot opportunities.

The Garden

The gardens focuses more on a white xmas deco, with white lighted lamppost, xmas trees with white bling blings and large lighted up white vase-like ornaments. While all these seems pretty cool, it lacks the celebratory mood of xmas and human warmth. In short, it feels too cold, like the ice kingdom from narnia!

Sunway Pyramid

The xmas deco at sunway pyramid adopts a simplistic attitude, featuring mainly heavily decorated xmas trees and mannequins dressed in party costume. The whole decoration paints a warm celebratory mood, and while the introduction of mannequins is somewhat special, it is rather loosely connected with the other deco, a huge set of xmas present on a sleigh would make a better replacement. The giant xmas tree found ouside the mall is worth a mention too because it lights up quite beautifully at night.

One Utama

At first glance, the xmas deco over at 1utama looks all glossy and style but lack substance, it looks more like a hyped up ballerina stage. All the randomly placed enlarged xmas tree ornaments and plain tree branches looks dull while the centerpiece looks more like a cross between a church and a mosque, how awkward, only consolation is that it rotates......wow!

Sungai Wang

The set up at Sungai Wang looks pretty compacted at first glance, nevertheless they did a pretty good job spreading the xmas cheers! The xmas deco centers around a stage lined up with xmas related events. When fully lighted up, the blue backdrop brings a sense of tranquility, enhanced further with the presence of cute white swans. The surrounding xmas trees are decorated with ornaments in gold, symbol of riches and prosperity, lights up quite beautifully too!

Berjaya Times Square

The xmas decorations at Berjaya Times Square is divided into two sections, one on the Ground Floor and the other on the Lower Ground Floor. The one on the Ground Floor features a humongous xmas tree, one of the biggest in KL, lighted up with big round colourful bulbs, with big huge snowflakes hanging overhead. The giant xmas tree is surrounded by smaller trees and cute snowman, all these make for good photo opportunities. The other section located at the located at the LG Floor imitates a small townhall with a miniature clock tower in the center and surrounded by miniature buildings which double up as stalls selling xmas goodies and souvenirs. The hanging snow looks quite pretty too!

KLCC

The xmas deco at KLCC looks very much like the candy house from the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, it is too colourful for my liking. The hanging ornaments from the roof looks more like giant xmas wind chimes than anything. However, their xmas trees though as tall as BTS one, are more elaborately decorated, look nicer.

Christmas is just around the corner but someone said it as "Christmas is right at the corner", u certainly know who said so right, CCL.When direct translate his sentence, it will be like "Hari Natal tepat-tepat berada di tepi sudut", pokok krismas kat tepi sudut ade la, takan hari krismas kat tepi kot. Lolz.

By looking at my blog, u can found i have a new header with Christmas theme and i had posted my favorite Christmas song - Last Christmas and a Christmas countdown with snowing effect as well.
It's full of Christmas atmosphere in my blog and it shows how crazy i am waiting for the arrival of Christmas day by counting the days since beginning of the month.
But where will i be and what i gonna do for this year Christmas?hehe...and who gonna date me?

I used to get lotsa pressies from church and my dad's company during my childhood and

now i do not receive any of them anymore.

How good to be kids rite? 我不想长大 but life havta go on, move forward and not looking backward.

For my Christmas wishlist this year, i hope to get a Canon s90.

Hope Santa got my wishlist in the smelly sock that i had placed.

Again i am hunting around all the shopping malls at Klang valley for their Christmas decorations.
So far, i am impressed with decorations at Pavilion but disappointing with KLCC and Sg wang.
What about PJ area like Mid Valley, 1U, The Curve, Sunway? Will find one day to get there and will update all the photos in next post but don't expect nice quality of it since i am shooting with my handphone only.
For the better photo, i am waiting Santa for my Christmas gift.

Sweet Chat Café @ BTS

After the dissapointing visit at PC Fair, I wanted to have icy stuff and decided to go

Sweet Chat Café at Berjaya Times Square.

I took a look at the menu and got myself Strawberry Mojito and
Durian Pancake for the dessert of two of us.

We love the durian pancake of course!
The texture is nice with the mix of durian fruit itself and cream, where the durian is

not too sweet since i do not prefer too sweet stuff.

This is my Straberry Mojito.

Fizzy drinks with strawberry and mint flavours and sparkling of sugar around the glass.

I just love this strawberry mint drinks.

CL's Kiwifruit Krakatoa is mountain tall with shaved ice and kiwifruit and sago around. Is perfect cooling down dessert after a long way walk from KLCC to Times Square in such a hot weather.

Sweet Chat gave us 1 year supply of coupon discount from beginning til the end of year 2010.

I don't think i can use it since i will be away to Sarawak from Jan-June and probably i wont keep it till July.

Dinner @ Tenji Japanese buffet

1 day after the yucky yucky buffet and again I went for another buffet which the plan suppose

on last Thursday but the reservation is full on the day before when we called.

So, we booked this Monday for the buffet dinner and Ronald scared he might trap in the jam

and can't make it on time so he called up the restaurant and booked the buffet supper as well.

Ronald, you are big eater also don't need to eat up 2 buffet meals. lol

I don't need to introduce much on Tenji Japanese buffet restaurant here as this restaurant is not new and surely many of you out there had heard alot about it. We went because of this promotion and I wanted to go since long time ago but never got the chance since busy with all the stuffs.

2nd person with the price of RM18.80++ and free flow beer for dinner from 7:30pm - 9:00pm

Let's hunt for foodsssss...

i got the raw plate. the raw oysters was so freshy man as well as the prawns and scallops.

Just like Jogoya, Tenji served coconuts as well.

i surely will not miss out the alcoholic drinks and had tried out most of the cocktails that served...not bad

Such a satisfying dinner we had and 4 of us slept with a full tummy that night.

Darn, I gonna gain another few pounds for eating non stop.

I probably mixed up too much coconut drinks with cocktails and cause my fever the next day. Whole day I was lying on my bed shivering and sweating non stop, what a terrible day for me. I just had "mee suah" at night as my 1st meal for the day and I doubt I won't be able to work on the next day since I am not recovered so sms-ed my colleague to replace me. He was so nice willing to work for me but feel "paiseh" need him to work 5 days 12 hours continuously... never mind la... "a friend in need is a friend indeed".hehe

Farewell lunch @ Yaki-Yaki Japanese Barbeque Buffet

Had a farewell lunch with KH after his internship at KL. He is leaving to Penang for his brother's wedding preparation. Thus, our search for nice place to dine started and we decided to go to

Yaki Yaki Japanese Barbeque Buffet Restaurant which located at the heart of KL at Ground Floor, Federal Bowl, Jalan Bukit Bintang, is just next to Low Yat Plaza.

display of the foods...looks yummy but not sure about the taste...

We had tried almost all the foods that available in the restaurant...

both of us like the Tom Yam Seafood Soup the most. Other foods was just average.

This restaurant uses the Japanese White Charcoal as the base for the barbeque. The foods get cooked very fast and need to keep on eyes on the foods quite often so that it won't get burn.

raw oysters were sucks...taste disgusting and not fresh at all even I had squeezed lemon on it...

fresh fruit juices were nice but not cocktails which is taste weird for me...too sour

Simply fabulous time we spent it here cause no one fight the food with us

but the food just sounds like the restaurant name "yucky yucky" la, nobody wanted to fight

for it also even there is full house in the restaurant. May be KH had reserved the whole restaurant cause only both of us who dining for the first 2 hours. The time we left the restaurant only

came in 3 Arabian. Is just RM45++ for the Japanese buffet, much cheaper then Jogoya so I cannot complain much on the food but still I reserve to get better and nicer food for that amount of the price rite.

But one thing I wonder, how come Vkeong's blog have nicer and plenty of food which I could not found in the restaurant that day. May be that day was not my day...no yummy food for me...sigh

After lunch we wanted to watch movie but too long Q at Berjaya Times Square and Pavillion so we just walked around at Bukit Bintang and I just remembered there is IMAX cinema at 10th floor

at BTS so we watched 2012. Is just the same price watching at IMAX and GSC and u got larger screen at IMAX but the sound effect was not that nice. Too bad the i am sleepy that time and the

beginning scene was boring and as usual, i am asleep again at the cinema. By the time i was awake, it was the earthquake scene...quite nice but suddenly got a call from mum, asked me to get my little

brother back for dinner but I haven finish the movie yet... i just watched the movie without the beginning and the ending...haha. just download it next time la...

Date between Sushi "Queen" and Sushi King

Sushi King promotion is back for all rice-based sushi on Kaiten Belt for only RM2 each.

The tam chiak sushi-guin surely wil not miss out this chance to meet the king.

Sneaked out during office hours to have it as my dinner. Sushi King at Low Yat Plaza
is so crowded as many peoples are kiasu will surely go for this RM2 thingy
and yesterday was the last day for the promotion.

Waited for almost 20 minutes only we got our seat, that also consider lucky coz we were in pair and there is available places for both of us. Those that went in gang havta wait even longer.

Very lucky again to get seat along the belt and we can get first hands on the purple and red plate foods

which is the most expensive during non-promotion day.
Too bad for those that come in big group, havta wait for so long to be seated and got the seat far away from belt and they havta self service to get their sushi.

Due to limited seating and promotion, so the dining period is only for an hour but

we just left before finish that 1 hour as the crowds at the entrance is getting bigger n bigger.

Pity for those that waited so long just to get cheap meals.

Both of us manage to finish up only 18 plates.
Spent around RM 40 for this dinner with the "king"...

p/s: Chaiing and Mason, next week is you guys turn to Sushi King at Kuching...

remember to grab more expensive foods le...hehe

Day trip at Colmar Tropicale, Bukit Tinggi

Went to Colmar Tropicale, Bukit Tinggi few weeks back when Suet Yeng and I both got to off from

broadband supporting job for hotels on Saturday.
After breakfast, we headed towards Karak highway and up to Bukit Tinggi.

It took 1 hour drive from KL and we reached the hill at around 11am.

Took some of the photos in Japanese Tea Garden and Botanical Garden before proceeding to the

Colmar Tropicale, a French-themed settlement.

There's nothing much to do at Colmar Tropicale. Just photoshooting at those colorful buildings.

Colmar Tropicale is not the place for youngster like us because the place really laid back and quiet eventhough the day we went was a weekend. I can't imagine whats on the weekdays.
After all it is still not worth it to pay an RM 10 entrance fee to visit the place though the architecture is nice.

Then, we had our lunch at One U and watched Gamer coz Chee Leong wanted to watch it so much.

Reached office and switched on my lappy, everyone start spamming on Facebook and MSN wishing happy 090909.

So, what u guys gonna do during this "special day"?
Getting married on this special day? Propose your love one to be couple/engage?
haha...good idea also since the date is so easy to remember,
so it is not to forget anniversary on every year.

The old days in UNIMAS

For the past 2 years in UNIMAS, I really enjoy alot and got to know many
friends from all over Malaysia. Treasure all the sweet and sad moments together
especially with my gang, all the sot sot type. We used to burn mid night oil together not to study but just to finish up tonne of assignments and projects. Skipped class together and the whole
class only left few good students.Making lotsa noise during class and end up
disturbing other students and also lecturer.

Since we were studying far away from our hometown, can't take balloon back all the
time for festivals. Is expensive for student like us to take balloon to cross over the sea. So we celebrated most of the festivals together in Sarawak.

Not to miss out, we surely will go for trip every semester before we back to our hometown.

A day out

I was lazy to update so I got somebody to write on this post. Let's see what this person had wrote for me...

"Prelude: I have known shermin since December last year when we both volunteered for the Asean University Games (AUG). Since then we’ve been actively keeping in touch with hours of calls and even more text messages. And after a few No-Action-Talk-Only (NATO) plans to meet up, we finally got it right yesterday to meet at Pavilion for a movie and lunch. And boy it was fun.

I was contemplating whether to watch Up in 3D or The Orphan, since both had equally good reviews. Ultimately I chose UP cos I thought that a happy movie will make memories of this outing a better one. Overall I think that UP is quite a wholesome family movie, except for a few picks that I have. First the plot wasn’t strong enough cos the baddies aren’t bad enough, cos a guy who tries to capture an exotic bird to study it in the name of science isn’t exactly all that evil, unless he tries to capture it and make roast exotic bird burger out of it. Secondly the movie is filled with dialogs and most of them aren’t that funny, unlike the ones in Ice Age 3. Besides that I feel that this movie can be just as nice if watched in 2D cos the 3D effects in this movie is somewhat few and far apart, thus saving you a rm5 surcharge for the 3D glasses and a mild dizziness when the show ends.

After that we walked around for place to have lunch, as it was lunch time the food court at Lower Ground was filled with people so we decided to scout around for some place quieter. I recommended Zen since I checked out their menu before and found it to be quite affordable, however we couldn’t find the place after walking back and forth in pavilion. Gave up, decided to settle down at Fridays instead.

At Fridays they were offering 2 course set lunch menu for rm29.90, moderately cheap for a restaurant famous for its large portion, great service and a relaxing atmosphere.

Shermin ordered the Boneless Wings as appetizer and the Chicken Cajun Pasta as entree while I ordered the Fried Mac and Cheese and the Fish and Chips. For drinks I ordered the Ultimate Long Island while she was undecided so I asked for the waiter’s recommendation and got her Tropical Berry Mojito Shaker. A word of caution though, don’t be surprised when you see that the cocktail costs as much as the main meal haha, though the cocktails at Fridays are among the best in town and worth its cost! A cheaper alternative would be the bottomless iced lemon tea.

Honestly I’m a lousy food reviewer, I know how to eat but I don’t know how to write how it taste, cos it all boils down to delicious, so-so or poison to me haha, furthermore this time around it was more about spending quality time to catch up than to hunt for great food, therefore I’m just gonna give a brief comment about the food at Fridays.

The Boneless Wing will not suit everyone’s taste bud though, cos it’s quite sourly, Shermin didn’t like it but it tasted okay to me.

Fried Mac and Cheese tastes just like normal mac and cheese except with a crunchy bite.

Shermin liked her Chicken Cajun Pasta alot though, says it tasted much better than the pasta that she had at Tony Romas a few days earlier, I find it quite yummy too and I find the garnishing very generous . Got a new nickname for her now, Shermin the pasta girl! My Fish and Chips consist of 3 deep fried dory fish fillet and fries, taste just like any other fish and chips.

For drinks my Long Island is potent enough yet won’t knock you out while shermin liked her Mojito Shaker very much, taste light and refreshing.

Spent about 2+hours for lunch, chatted discussed bitched about many things. We said our goodbyes after that; time really flies when you are having fun, but a farewell only makes one look forward to a next meeting. ;-)"

PIKOM PC FAIR (II) 2009

This is the 2nd PC Fair of the year 2009. Every time when there's PC Fair and if I was in Kay Elle, I will surely visit no matter I have anything to purchase or not.

Had buffet lunch with Kar Seng and Laimen at Jogoya @ Starhill Gallery before headed to PC Fair. This was my second time there, just had a lunch buffet with my high school mates a year back. Is terrible man...not worth spending so much money eating it. The foods getting worst compare the first time I was there.

After lunch, we walked to KLCC Convention Center for the PC Fair. It is crowded as usual but this time PC Fair is not as crowded as the previous. Maybe cause of H1N1 and illegal gatherings of anti-ISA movement on last Saturday, many people rather just hide at home then hanging out.

As you can see many sexy pretties "sales" around at the PC Fair besides of gadgets.

BiBi Wok @ Bandar Puteri Puchong

Had a late lunch with friend last Sunday after deciding not to meet my uni friends at Sunway Pyramid. We had drive through few streets and roads around the area and can't decide where to eat. At last we picked up this Nyonya and Thai cuisine restaurant.

Nyonya Fried Mee Hoon

The meal comes with crispy grilled prawn, acar, deep-fried tauhu, hard-boiled egg and curry.
The mee hoon is kinda oily for me, don't really like it.

Thai Fried Rice

There were satay chicken wrapped with pandan leaf, ikan bilis, mango kerabu and deep-fried tau foo pok.
I did like the sour and spicy mango kerabu, it taste nice together with the fried rice though the fried rice is not that tasty.

Overall, the foods was just ok ok...

These is another meal at 1 of the Thai restaurant around Bandar Puteri Puchong.

Sang Har Mee
These was nice which served for 2 pax. Thick gravy with big fresh prawns over crispy noodles.

Firstly, thanks xiao didi for the birthday treat. Damn full to have 2 meals for lunch last Friday.
He drove me to Klang to have famous Bak Kut Teh. Thought of trying the dried version of Bak Kut Teh but is not available so we just had the soup with rice.
(I was too hungry so didn't get any pix for it.)

After the Bak Kut Teh meal, I thought he will just bring me walk around Klang. He got no idea where to go so ended up at Aeon, Bukit Tinggi.
And here we had another meal for lunch at Sakae Sushi.

The environment was classy and relaxing. Like Sushi King, Sakae Sushi also has variety of sushi served on colourful plates carried by conveyer belt. The unique thing about Sakae Sushi is each table has a computer that allows us place our order.

Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD)

Yeah!!! ~~With our hard work throughout the month struggling in front of PC, debugging in Microsoft Visual Studio, seaching for errors in the code, reading four thick books within 1 month plus~~ , finally we passed 3 papers of exam and own a MCPD cert which is recognized by the Microsoft.

Haha...actually is not that hard to pass the paper, you just havta attend the class from 9am till 5pm daily, switch on desktop, log in to MSN and facebook, take break whenever you are tired.
Is it easy to become a MCPD??? Oh ya...is damn easy right... you can have 1 too.

Happy faces with their score. Some of them even score 1000/1000 for the papers.

Thanks to our trainer, Mike for being such a nice trainer and friend to fool around with us. Thanks for the souvenir and also the pizza...

3P Farewell Barbeque Party @ Matang

Look how good is our 3P trainers. They did us a farewell barbeque party at Matang Family Park. They had prepared for nearly a week for this outing. When the day came, we just ready ourselves and hopped in the bus to get there. This was the second time i went to Matang. Before this was few months back.(Click here)

Gawai Dayak/Gawai day

Gawai Dayak or Gawai Day is a festival celebrated in Sarawak on 1st and 2nd June every year. The ethnic groups of Sarawak: Iban, Bidayuh, Kayan, Kenyah, Kelabit etc will visit their friends and relatives on their special days. Such visiting is known as "ngabang" in the Iban dialect.

I got the chance to celebrate Gawai festival in Sarawak this year. We were off from class on that day and went to visit Annah Rais longhouse which is belongs to Bidayuh.

They putted ribbon on our shirts as welcoming us to their living place and also served us Tuak, rice wine which is a special wine which brewed at least a month before celebration.

The ladies were busy preparing the foods for the visitors.

Bidayuh in their costumes and performed their cultural dance.

After the visit, we thought off cooling down ourselves at the waterfall but unfortunately the water dried up. Wonder why the water can be dried up at waterfall?

Dinner at Pondok Laguna @ Crown Square

Michael love spicy foods so we walked around Crown Square and made a last minute decision to have dinner at Pondok Laguna, an Indonesian cuisine.

Is a great place for family dinner. The restaurant also provided VIP rooms to have gathering without distraction.
Small basket of keropok will be served upon the ordering. Here are those dishes that we ordered. Really appetite with all the spicy dishes, Chaiing can't have spicy stuff, also enjoy the dinner that day.

The basket of rice with banana leaf is pretty good too and it goes with all the spicy dishes.

Great dinner with Michael, might visiting this place again to try out other foods.

Gunung Gading and Pandan Beach, Lundu

Gunung Gading National Park is located in the Lundu District, southwest of Sarawak.

We had a day trip to Gunung Gading National Park with 3P trainers last Saturday. Those 3P trainers are from Philippine and Indonesia and they are teaching us at UNIMAS and UiTM. This is the first outing with them after they taught us for about two weeks.
Really had lotsa fun with them especially with our instructor - Michael.

A trip to Gunung Gading is imcomplete without catching the rare sight of the blooming Rafflesia flower. This plants bloom infrequently and have their flowering period.Rafflesia - biggest flower in the world

Unfortunately, we missed out our chance to look at this rare plants cause we follow Michael gave up at Waterfall 3 and walked down the mount.

The seafood in Lundu is fresh and cheap. Less than RM 50 we can ordered 4 dishes including seafood and few more extra bowls rice for the guys. The foods served for 5 of us.

24 type dishes for u to try out.

The big eater of us surely do not want to miss out the chance.
If follow the original plan, 3 cars will be going for the buffet but unfortunately 2 cars broke down and we managed to get back another one more car. So only 2 cars went.

We reached there at around 11am and start to order as much as possible. We managed to finish few baskets within few minutes once the foods are served. The funny part is one of our friend can't catch up with us and we finished up all the foods before she can taste it.

We tried almost all the foods except those heavy stuffs like noodles and congee.

The buffet cost us RM 18 + government tax. All together is RM207.90 for 11 persons.
Overall the buffet is ok and it is halal, which is pork free.

Sibu and Bintulu trip

It had been a time I have not been update on my blog. Well, finally finished my 4th semester and just back from 4days trip at Sibu and Bintulu.

Let me start with the Sibu and Bintulu which actually happened a weeks ago. Hehe...now only manage to update it after finised a 82 episode TVBdrama.

We took around 5 hours boat ride to Sibu from Kuching.

Here we were, touched down at Sibu port at noon. Sibu was also known as "New Foochow" as majority are Foochows. In Malaysia, there is only twotowns with a majority of Foochows: Sibu (Sarawak) and Setiawan (Perak) which geographically seperated by the South China Sea.

Live chickens and ducks are wrapped up tube-like with newspaper and displayed neatly in rows for selling in Sibu Central Market. Customers just pick uptheir preffered chicken or duck and carry it home like a handbag, is so convenient.

Lau King Howe Medical Memorial Museum - it said to be the biggest medical musuem. This hospital museum is in memory of philanthropist Mr Lau King Howe who donated a piece of land for the first government hospital in Sibu. Later it expanded to become a bigger hospital but in 80's, the Sibu General Hospitalwas built in Oya Road ans this hospital slowly disuse. Only a small part of the building is left to become a mini musuem and others has been used up for urband evelopment of Sibu. Refer this...

Sibu is known for its delicious local cuisine:
- "Kam Pua" noodles (干盘面) - available at almost all the coffee shops
- "Kong Pia" (光饼) - Foochow delicacy made with flour and baked in oven. Can be eaten either

Bye to Sibu and here we go to Bintulu. 4 hours land transport from Sibu to Bintulu.

A relaxing place to have coffee and light foods with friends and family.

The theme of the restaurant is white and red which you can see all the furniture are in white-red.

The restaurant contains a family lounge which is furbished with sofas and plasma TV.

Sanga Japanese Restaurant is one of the Japanese restaurant in Kuching.
First time went there with my friend as we craved for Japanese food for few weeks ago.

Here is the section where the chef make the sushi and sashimi on the spot and in front of you.

See how nice the owner of this restaurant decorated the side of the wall with all the cute Japanese dolls and Japanese drinks bottles.

We started off with Sushi Bento which comes with free flow of green tea, Miso soup and fruits (RM 10).

Nana's Chicken Teriyaki Bento also comes with free flow of green tea, Miso soup and fruits

Pulau Ketam one day trip

Pulau Ketam is an island located at Port Klang, where most of the Teo Chew Chinese live.
Went there for a one day trip in 2007 as many comment good about the seafood there.

The bridge that link from the jetty to Pulau Ketam.

Hotel Sea Lion. I think this is the only hotel can be found in this small island.

Bomba Sukarelawan Pulau Ketam, located not far from the jetty.
Is a small bomba compare to the town.

The houses are not really built on the land, they are more constructed and floated above the water. There is no proper drainage system. So, the people there just dump their rubbish into the water.

Eeee...such an eye sore seeing all the rubbish floating on the water and on the ground.

These is their toilets...it flushes directly into the sea.
Yucks!!! I can't stand staying in such place. Staying here for a day is already suffer and no appetite for the seafood even though is nice as many said.

Most of the people in Pulau Ketam work as fisherman. As you can see, almost every houses have at least one boat parked in front.

This is how the dried prawns being dried on top the wooden trails.

The people there do not drive cars due to small island and narrow roads. Bicycles are their main transportation and almost all the houses have few bicycles. Some of their bicycles even modified to be motorized. I managed to capture this photo when a woman was carrying her kid in a pail.

No much entertainment there. So, most of the oldies and children will spend their spare time watching this puppets nearby the temple.

The schools look nice compare the houses there.

There are not many landmarks. So, even the basic facilities are considered as local attractions.

How to get there??? You can take KTM Komuter to Port Klang and take a ferry to Pulau Ketam. The ferry is air-conditional and take about half an hour to 40 minutes to reach the destination.

A place to have drinks and hang out with buddies. It divided into smoking area (outdoor) and non-smoking area (indoor). The interior design of this lounge is unique. They used wine bottles as the main decorations.

As you can see, they arrange nicely the wines and alcoholic bottles on the shelf.

Never have the chance to drink the alcoholic drinks that day as all of my friends were tired and and we had 8am class the next day. We just took Carlsberg and orange juices. A glass of orange juice cost us RM 14 which is just almost the same price with the cocktails. You are paying the same amount, so why not take up cocktails instead of orange juice.

Not crowded place. Have a try on the drinks there. Hope you will like the surroundings.

A place that highly recommended by Kuching friends to have variety of fresh and nice seafood. It located nearby the port and the restaurants are mostly open during night time.

Nice food and the price is cheap as well.

Red chili, garlic and soy sauce to spice up your foods if you wish to.

Midin with belacan (RM 7). Is Sarawakian favourite vege.
I not sure is it available in other states, but I had this when I am in Sarawak.
Anyway, really must try on this dish when come to Sarawak.

Bamboo clam with curry (RM 12). It either served with shells remove or otherwise.
Hmmm...not really nice as the curry is tasteless. I prefer spicy curry.
It might be nice if the curry is spicy.

It's located upstair of a coffeeshop somewhere near Padungan.
Hardly find this restaurant as it is hidden...

This restaurant's interior designs is very unique as you can scroll down to have a look on it.

The menu is quite unique too, looks like handmade menu with cardboard and tied up with string.

Dragon fruit juice and honey dew juice. They provide us the syrup juice as well to add on if wanna have sweeter taste. Only RM 3 per glass. Damn cheap as the fruit juice are purely blended and not diluted with adding water.

If directly translate this, the noodle will named as "fool noodle". Is actually a Taiwanese noodles but don't know why name it as that. Quite nice, taste like hand-made noodle. Served with slices of pork, vege and spring onion.

Mitsu Shabu-shabu

Located behind Atmosfera Cafe, the shop lots opposite of The Spring. Shabu-shabu is kinda same like steamboat but the differences is for shabu-shabu, we flip flop the meats in the hot pot and served once it's half cook or cook but in steamboat, we usually throw everything into the pot.

It is unique where every table has it own personal hot pot. It is more hygienic where we don't need to share our saliva in the pot and we can enjoy our own choice of soup and ingredients.

Mitsu Tea House (中华茶楼)

Had lunch with Yip Ping before picking up Chai Ing at airport today. We tried out at Mitsu Tea House that located in RH Plaza, few shops down from Ho Say Liao.

Looking at the menu and got no idea what to order as they said they only serve chicken, duck, BBQ pork and char siew rice cause their kitchen ran out of gas. We plan to walk out from the restaurant and head to another restaurant but feeling embarrassing by doing so, so Yip Ping just ordered...

One word to describe the rice and the pork - SUCKS. And a plate of just pork + rice dish cost us around 5 bucks. I can just have a plate of the same meal at any hawker stall that cost me not more than 5 bucks and is much nicer than this.

They told us their kitchen ran out of gas but still we saw there are people ordering dim sum. So, we go for dim sum as well.

This "dragon little buns" is damn small, you can just slurp it down easily. The taste can be still accepted and but not this lotus leaf glutinous rice.

No plans on the 1st day of CNY, so just followed Unimas's activity to Planetarium Sultan Iskandar, Kuching. We had a public briefing about the solar eclipse in the theater at 3.45pm. According to the speaker, the partial solar eclipse will start around 4.30pm until sunset. The expected time the position where the moon starts to block the sunlight is around 4.30pm and the moon will continue its way and forms a cresent shape like this.

After the briefing, we went to the parking compounds and given x-ray filter to view the solar eclipse and provided a special telescope.
Sadly, the solar eclipse wasn't visible cause of the weather that day, the sky was cloudy.

There will be another eclipse that can be seen during 21-22 July 2009. Who Knows we will get the chance to see the next eclipse.

After visiting the planetarium, is time to fill our stomach. Since most of the restaurants won't be open on the 1st day of CNY. We just go for fast food at Pizza Hut for our dinner. We ordered the new pizza ~ Golden Fortune Cheesy Brown. This pizza serves prawns, tuna fish, crab sticks, pineapples and a golden ring of cheesy crowns. Not bad...have a try of it.

This is the first time I had my CNY celebration far away from my family, staying at Sarawak with few of my course mates. My course mates are not going back to their hometown cause the flight ticket are expensive but I am not going back cause tired of traveling since I am just back from KL last 3 weeks and also busy with tonne of works (as if I will do my work if I stay at uni--> poor excuses la).

Reunion dinner is a must on CNY Eve. So, we plan to go for steamboat on the night but sadly more than 2 hours we drove around Kuching, we can't find any restaurant that open on that night. Lastly, we just went to SCR Express that located near Satok.

Our reunion dinner is more alike same with any reunion dinner at home. We had...

1/2 roasted chicken,

kailan with seafood,

sweet & sour fish,

and tauhu.

SCR Express serves ala-carte also. Quite cheap eating here. We had this dinner for 5 persons and each of us just pay RM12.50 including drinks that is around RM2.50 - RM3.00.

We dunno where to hang so just drop by one of our lecturer's house.

Fireworks can be seen everywhere around the Kuching town. Is different in KL, we can only see fireworks during special events such as Independence Day, New Year or any launching...

There were many cars dropped by at Kuching Airport flyover to watch the fireworks. We also don't miss out this opportunity. More than one hour, the fireworks still can be seen from every angles.

Had a great experience having CNY celebration at Sarawak. It was something different. Actually is not that bad as all my friends thought when not going back hometown.
Anyway, I will still go back next year cause nobody are giving me Ang Pau here...(evil la)

UNIMAS Chinese New Year Celebration 2009

There is a Chinese New Year Celebration on 17th January, last Saturday at the Unimas Hall. The event is organised by the Unimas Chinese Society and Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar. Entrance fees of the event is RM 10 that consists of buffet dinner and performance.

This is one of the Japanese restaurant that I can found in Kuching so far. The food here more to be the lunch sets and there is not much choice of sushi and sashimi.

Nice dining environment just like any other Japanese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur.

Starting from tommorow, I am on leave from blogging for 10 days. I am not around for about 2 weeks, staying away from home and will be staying at UKM hostel for the ushering job. I was choosen by UNIMAS to be the usherer for the Asean University Games event that will be held from 11th December till 21st December 2008. All my friends wonder why am I so lucky to be selected.

Still got few more hours, I need to gather at UKM but still I haven do any packing yet. Getting a little nervous though I am not involve in any sport matches. Scared I can't sleep tonite thinking about the coming event.

Here we found an exiciting restaurant with an unique concept at Starhill Gallery.

Really amazing, the owner of this restaurant decorated it with glass bottles, wine glasses and even the chandeliers also made up of many different colours of lamp. The reflection of the lights on the glass really nice and special.

I assume that this restaurant may be is an open air pub.

My friends said if he is willing to transfer the cash into my account first only I will pass him the laptop and my parents strongly diagree me contact with this person. Maybe he is a cheater. Very risky to sell things on the net so i decided not to sell it on the net. Maybe will just trade in at Low Yat or just keep it for another semester and buy a new wan later on.

Lot 10

Not much decorations at Lot 10 this year. Just few white christmas trees around the mall. But the white christmas trees look nice and simple.

This is 2007 decoration. Really like the decorations. The tree will keep changing colours and there were christmas carols performance on the tree.

And this is 2008 decoration. A little dissapointing with it, I think they just reuse back last year tree and decorated with gold balls and place at the main entrance.

Christmas decorations at Suria KLCC changed to a new theme this year. Keeping away with its old purple-and-silver decorated tree.

But the new Christmas tree is still looks so tall and grand with lots of candies, gingerman, snowflakes etc hanging on the tree.

Massive landslide at Bukit Antarabangsa, Ulu Klang

A massive landslide occurred in Bukit Antarabangsa at about 4am this morning. The news of landslide spread so fast through SMSes, calls, TV, radio.My aunty and her family staying at that area. Once we got this breaking news, my mum immediately call my aunty.Luckily they are save from the disaster. Hundreds of residents in Bukit Antarabangsa were trapped and four people have been confirmed dead in the disaster area. Sigh.Please pray for everyone in Bukit Antarabangsa. Hope no more tragedy for residents there.

This incident is just a natural disaster or was caused by deforestation, poor maintenance of draingae systems? What do you think?

An old man stand by the BB plaza road side putting a cardboard that he wrote it as - "Take photo with the Gold Man. Is a good luck for you. Price as you wish". He painted himself in fully gold colour and wearing his gold attire, posting at the road side to attract people to donate for him as he knows the place is a busy street that many people will pass by all the time.I went there three days consecutive and I saw him will open his "stall" every evening. I just wonder how much he can collects each day???

Second day back to KL, is my first outing. went out for movie with Yaso. It has been awhile I didn't watch movie in the cinema. Maybe because of Kuching's cinema tat made me feel so uncomfortable each time I go. Sorry to say that, the seats are sucks and terrible, even my lecture halls in university is 1000x much more better. Hope GSC will open soon in The Spring,Kuching. We watched Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa. The movie starts off with a lion cub named Alex escapes hunters to Manhattan Island, where he becomes a local celebrity and grows up with a hippo (Gloria), a girafe(Melman) and a zebra(Marty). They wait for their escape plane to launch them back to New York but end up fall to Africa, place where Alex born.From there, Alex found back his long lost parents, Gloria has a hunky hippo, Moto-Moto who is crushing on her, Marty finds out that zebras are like him, and Melman becomes the giraffe witch doctor.Alex is to be intiated into his pride but Makunga that has long wanted to replace Zuba as leader do many tricks to stop Alex. Alex's parents got very angry when found out Alex only know how to dance but not fight.We did laughed alot during the movie, but for me, part 1 is better than part 2.

A day trip to Matang Wildlife Centre & Kubah National Park (Sarawak) with coursemates b4 bek to hometown. Early around 9am, v left university with 2 rented cars. had our breakfas with sarawak famous laksa n went to supermarket to get sum cookies,tuna cans n 2 loaf of breads for our lunch. turning few big roundabout, goin up the hill, down the hill, turning left n right, looking at the road signboards, making noises n chewing candies in the car, finally v reached Matang. jz walked up the paths, the rain started to fall bt none of us wanna turn bek n v jz continue our journey. mousedeers, deers, crocodiles, porcupines etc are welly kept in the cages. finally v stopped by at a shelter to see Orang Utans. v are too bad to laugh at those orang Utans wen see them caught in the rain n trying to take sum leaves to cover themselves.there is a bulled face Orang Utan tat v nvr meet in any otr places. while waiting for the rain stop, v had some photo taking at the shelter. v walked down the hill and got in the cars with our wet bodies den v continue our next destination to Kubah National Park. jz had our tuna breads n cookies n walked up the hill. the hill is so steeply and v taken quite some time to climb. v din manage climb to the top of the hill, v walked thru the wooden trails tat bring us to the waterfall.all the way down to the waterfall, i been sucked by few leeches. thx K.Seng for helping me pulled out all the leeches. afta 1500m walks, v reached the waterfall.fresh crystal clear waters flow down from the waterfall. jz lead our bodies at the rocks n can fell the natural spa of the water flowing down beat on the rocks.
